SAFETY PLUG

Application

“The “Safety Plug” makes it possible to secure a bottle containing a fluid product at the assembly plant. This fluid may be a liquid or a gas. In this way, the bottle is transported securely from the factory to the wholesaler, the retailer, and finally the customer, without concern for potential theft.

Once secured, anyone attempting to access the fluid must remove the “Safety Plug”, which causes a clean break of a component known as the “Key”. Anyone observing that the “Key” component is broken can deduce that the bottle has been tampered with and that fluid has likely been stolen during transit.

Assembly procedure

Step 1

Insert the “Screw” into the “Cap”

Step 2

Align the openings of both parts “Screw” and “Cap”.

Step 3

Insert the « key » into the opening of the two parts.

Step 4

Ensure the « Key » has gone through both parts completely.

Step 5

Position the « lock »

Step 6

Insert the « Lock » to secure the assembly. A little extra force is required.

Installation

To install the « Safety Plug » simply screw it in place and tighten firmly. Do not overtighten.

The contact surface between the “Cap” and the “Screw” allows the Assembly to be tighten into the LPG Valve.

Protections

The part “Screw" is fully installed in the LPG Valve and thus holds the entire "Safety Plug" on the bottle.
The part "Cap" completely covers the "Screw" and must be removed to access the "Screw".
The assembly only tolerates tightening forces that will further embed the screw in the gas cylinder nut.
Any excessive attempt to loosen it will impose shear forces on the “Key”, causing it to break at the “Fracture Point”.
Any excessive vertical force on the “Cap” will impose tensile stresses on the "Key" and cause it to break at the "Fracture Point"
It is therefore impossible to remove the "cap" and access the gas without causing the "Key" to break.
Any attempt to glue the "Key" part back on after the act of vandalism and then reinstall the cap will fail because:

The "Fracture Point" is very thin and difficult to glue and will leave visible glue residue.
The plastic material used reacts poorly to the glue.
The "cap" will be much easier to remove once glue back together.
It will be impossible to reproduce the crisp (audible and physical) break initially produced by a new "key" part.
